At Honor Construction, we are dedicated to serving our clients to the best of our ability. We work extremely hard, and at the end of the day we cherish sipping on good brew or two.
Our love for beer stems from our CEO and president, Brad Laackman’s two passions: construction management and beer. In 2006, Brad was involved in the development of one of Michigan’s largest breweries. Through this, Brad developed a love for the engineering complexities of building first-class breweries. Ten year’s later, Brad and the Honor Construction team continues to leave their mark on the brewery industry by being a Professional Brewer’s Alliance member, and by developing breweries across West Michigan, such as City Built Brewing Company.
They don’t call Grand Rapids, Michigan, Beer City U.S.A. for nothing… With 73 breweries located in the greater Grand Rapids area, our home-base is a powerhouse for brews. In fact, craft breweries are taking over the United States beer industry. Let’s take a look at 2015 statistics courtesy of the Brewers Association:
[if !supportLists]• [endif]Small and independent craft brewers represent 12% market share of the overall beer industry
[if !supportLists]• [endif]The number of breweries grew 15% to a total of 4,269 breweries
[if !supportLists]• [endif]Craft brewers provided nearly 122,000 jobs
[if !supportLists]• [endif]Craft brewers produced 24.5 million barrels, and saw a 13% rise in volume, and
[if !supportLists]• [endif]The retail dollar value was estimated at $22.3 billion, equalling a 21% market share.
On a local scale, the craft beer industry impacts Michigan’s economic state with a total of 205 breweries generating nearly $1.9 billion dollars back into our economy. The mitten state produces 769,897 barrels of craft beer per year, which equals 3.3 gallons of beer per Michigander (over the age of 21 years old). Long story short: Our country, and state, loves craft beer.
“As a construction firm, our goal is to expand the developmental and economic state of Grand Rapids. But as a construction firm who loves the complexity, ingenuity, and entertainment associated with developing craft breweries, we especially love to grow our city’s brewery scene,” said Brad Laackman.
As the preferred construction management company for the Professional Brewer’s Alliance we look forward to developing the Grand Rapids craft brewery industry for years to come. However, our scope does not stop at the brewery industry. Our compact-sized team is also ideal for growing the restaurant and distillery industry.
